Walking on water

Mary hated it from day one. Hated it with a concentrated force and hard that I did not believe her capable, so deeply and intensely hated the new baby we hoped it was blood. But to me, under the radiant sky, gliding like a demigod on the luminous surface of the water, the bitterness I felt something as far away as the fog and cold of England, and that frown I became blurred, as the features of a long-dead person.
